The King and His Cross series

The Gospel according to Luke is one of the most important books of the Bible ever written. It is the fullest account we have of the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus.

Because it is so large, we are going to focus entirely on the second half of the Gospel. We will take a chapter a week, beginning at chapter 13, and look at it through the lens of The King and His Cross.

As we will see, the twin themes of the kingdom of God and the cross of Christ – which are often set again each other, sometimes in unhelpful ways – are both at the heart of Jesus's life and work. The Gospel is the story of a kingdom, but a kingdom that is established through suffering; it is the story of a substitutionary death on a cross, but the one who dies on the cross is the King of the world.

Sunday teaching:
02 Feb  Paradoxes of the Kingdom
09 Feb  Excuses and the Cross
16 Feb  Lost and Found
