Save the Date
It seems hard to believe, but this coming September marks 20 years since Deb and I moved from Bedford to Catford. On Sunday 13th September, at each of our services, we will be celebrating and giving thanks for all that God has done amongst us in the last two decades.
The day that we moved is etched in my memory. I had lived in Bedford for 24 years, from the age of 8 to 32. Bedford was where I had become a Christian, started in ministry, got married to my beautiful wife and become a dad; it was quite a momentous decision to leave. I still remember the drive down to London in early September 1995, with Ben age 3 and Josh just 6 months strapped into their car seats in the back. I think it would be true to say that our emotions could not process the enormity of what was happening to our young family. However, we knew that God had spoken and Deb and I were moving with a clear conviction that we were in God’s will. My original hope was to lead a church of a similar size to the one I had just left in Bedford. I also wondered if we would survive leading King’s and whether or not we would still be there in 10 years time...
Well, 20 years later, we are still here and still loving being part of the community we call King’s. The church we joined 20 years ago has changed and grown remarkably. So whether you have been with us for the whole journey, joined along the way, or have been at King’s just a week, please do join us on Sunday September 13th. Save the date - write it on your calendar, put it in your diary or stick it on your fridge door! More details will follow soon and we look forward to seeing you all there.
