Global 2021
We have just come to the end of an excellent couple of days meeting with the Newfrontiers apostolic fellowship for our annual Global conference. This event would normally be held in Cyprus, somewhere that is relatively easy for people from all parts of the world to get to. Unfortunately, ongoing travel restrictions meant we were unable to do this, so like last year, the conference was held online. Despite the limitations of Zoom, it was wonderful to spend time with these true friends and partners in the Gospel.
As the conference began on Wednesday, it was great to see people from Europe, Asia, Africa and America popping up on the screen – different nations, different languages, united in purpose to serve Jesus. Scott Marques from Zimbabwe kicked us off with a message on ‘The Lamb of God’, challenging us to focus our attention on Jesus and allow Him to increase and ourselves to decrease – such a helpful reminder as we started our time together.
At our Global events we like to take the opportunity to learn from different parts of the church world, and Simon Holley served us brilliantly by giving us an overview of Disciple Making Movements. Andrew Wilson then brought a very helpful message about some of the undercurrents and issues facing the gathered church as we emerge from the pandemic. It’s good to be challenged and provoked, and both sessions led to some constructive group discussions.
Across our two afternoons we also made space to pray for one another and allow the Holy Spirit to move, and it was fascinating to see common themes in the prophetic words that were brought.
I am so encouraged by the last two days. Despite the challenges of the last 18 months, we remain strong in faith and confident of God's provision for the next season. It is a privilege to be part of a global church family such as Newfrontiers and we look forward to gathering in person next year.
