2nd December 2021
What an excellent Sunday we had last week! I managed to get to three of our four sites during the morning, and everywhere I went I was encouraged by some wonderful times of worship and the general sense of faith and commitment in the meetings. We also had a great message from Andrew Wilson to round off our Nehemiah series, which you can catch up with online if you have not yet heard it.
It has been a difficult and challenging 20 months – and the pandemic is clearly far from over – but I believe King’s is in a good place. One sign of health in a church can be seen in the giving, so I was thrilled to hear on Monday that we have met our target of £220k for the month of November. The generosity of King’s never fails to amaze me, and I would like to thank all of you who have contributed. Your faithful giving means that we will be able to continue moving forward with all that God is calling King’s to do.
December is here, the advent calendar is up, and we are just over a week away from the first of our carol services on 12 December. To help us manage numbers in our venues, we are asking you to book (free) tickets for yourself and everyone in your party. Places are filling up fast, so please book yours as soon as possible. We are also offering an online version of the carol service, and you will find ideas of how you can send invites to your friends and family here.
The news about the new Covid variant this week reminded us that we live in an uncertain world. We may not know what the New Year will bring, but we draw strength from One who loves us with an everlasting love and who never lets us down. Because of Jesus, ‘we have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.’ ( Hebrews 6:19). Let’s continue to share our hope by inviting our friends and family to come along this Christmas.
